Overview

The board of the Drug and Alcohol Office is hosting the awards. The theme of the awards is Recognising outstanding alcohol and other drug practice. These awards acknowledge and celebrate alcohol and other drug (AOD) initiatives that have been undertaken in the following categories:

• prevention - excellence in AOD prevention
• treatment - improved treatment outcomes for people with AOD problems
• capacity building - building capacity to prevent and/or respond effectively to AOD problems
• partnerships - partnerships for improved AOD outcomes
• Aboriginal - outstanding AOD outcomes for Aboriginal people
• families - excellence in working with families and carers
• young people - preventing and reducing AOD problems in young people
• local communities - local communities working together to address AOD problems.

There will be up to four finalists in each category, and an overall winner.

Groups and organisations, AOD specialist or mainstream sectors are encouraged to submit projects or programs to be considered.
