NT Aboriginal Health Worker summit



As part of the Year of the Aboriginal Health Worker, AMSANT will be holding an NT AHW Summit on 4-5 May 2012 in Darwin, NT.

All NT AHWs and those with an interest in the issues of the AHW profession will be welcomed for the session on Friday 4th May.

The session on Saturday morning 5th May will be open just to AHWs.

The venue is likely to be the Holiday Inn on the Esplanade and will be confirmed as soon as possible.

There will be a conference dinner on the Friday night for people to get together and announce the inauguration of the AHW Hall of Fame. Saturday night will see Aboriginal rock bands providing entertainment.

The purpose of the Summit will be to focus attention on the special issues for AHWs in the NT, to share information on what is happening to address current challenges, and to hear from AHWs themselves on professional issues and what they think is required to move things forward.

The Summit will be linked to other activities over the weekend of 5-6 May.

There will also be special section for AHWs in the May Day March on 7 May in which all Aboriginal Health Workers are encouraged to attend.
