The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) held its 17th meeting in Canberra on 10 February 2006. The discussion points from the meeting relating to Indigenous issues are outlined below.
COAG agreed on a National Reform Agenda aimed at bringing together all governments to work collaboratively to deliver outcomes under three streams: human capital; competition; and regulatory reform.
COAG noted the continuing progress made in advancing the principles set out in the National Framework of Principles for Government Service Delivery to Indigenous Australians.
COAG further noted the continuation of its Indigenous trials, announced at the April 2002 meeting, which focus on partnership approaches between governments and communities.
