Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of mortality in Australia. These guidelines have been developed for use by health care professionals, to consolidate a number of evidence-based guidelines for conditions with similar risk factors and management approaches, and to provide clear guidance to prevent first-ever CVD events. The guideline recommends strategies for management of CVD risk in the primary prevention setting, in addition to providing guidance on assessment of CVD risk in all adults over 45 years of age and 35 years of age for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
