Information & support pack for those bereaved by suicide or other sudden death

by Clark SJ, Hillman SD, Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention

Year 2007
City Perth, WA
Institution Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention

This report was developed for people who have recently lost someone to suicide or through another sudden and unexpected death. The report includes 14 chapters which provide information on a range of topics to help people through this difficult and sensitive time. Some of the chapter topics include:

  • what to tell people
  • helping children with grief
  • support services
  • emotions during bereavement (a time of mourning that follows the loss of someone or something)
  • things that may help.

This report is not an Indigenous specific resource but does include a chapter on grief in Aboriginal culture. A Consumer Reference Group made up of people bereaved by suicide helped to develop the information in this report.
