The object of this retrospective review of 200 children hospitalised in Royal Darwin Hospital with asthma was to determine if Indigenous Australian children hospitalised with acute asthma have differing severity, risk factors and management than non-Indigenous children with asthma. The aim of the review is to identify intervention points to reduce morbidity and mortality of asthma. It compared admission characteristics, severity indices, treatment, discharge plans and readmissions in Indigenous and non-Indigenous children.
