These guidelines have been developed for health professionals and aged care staff who work with Indigenous people with dementia in remote settings. Information is provided on how to provide appropriate care and support to Indigenous people with dementia and their families. The recommendations cover the following areas:
These guidelines are an abridged version of the 2012 Guidelines for diagnosis and care of Aboriginal people with dementia in remote communities. The guidelines should be read in conjunction with the 2008 Clinical practice guidelines and care pathways for people with dementia living in the community.
