Programs
This section will include a wide range of information about programs
and services related to Indigenous health. (As is the case with a number
of other sections on this site, the material in some of the sub-sections
is quite limited, but we will be expanding this over time.)
Programs and services are developed and run within particular policy contexts,
which are summarised in the section entitled 'Policies
and administration'. 'Major
developments in national Indigenous health policy since 1967', is
the first of a series of timelines in which we intend summarising developments
in various aspects of Indigenous health policy. These timelines should
assist people to understand the historical and current context of Indigenous
health, and hopefully learn from past experiences in addressing the health
disadvantages experienced by Indigenous people.
The other sub-sections, 'Health promotion', 'Other programs' and 'Health
workforce', address other major aspects about programs and services related
to Indigenous health. The first of these, 'Health
promotion', has been restructured to make the information more easily
accessible. A number of published resources pertaining to health
services have recently been added to the 'Other
programs' section, but this and the section on 'Health
workforce' still require substantial development.
