2008 Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities (AMRRIC) Conference
13 October 2008, Darwin, Northern Territory
This conference will focus on two main themes:
- Chronic disease prevention through prioritising animal health programs
- Relationship between emotional and social wellbeing and dog health programs
Other topics will include:
- Establishing a sustainable dog health program
- Strategies for culturally appropriate animal health programs with Indigenous communities
- Engaging veterinarians in AMRRIC endorsed programs

Joining the Dots - Aboriginal Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Forum
30 - 31 October 2008, Perth, Western Australia
Joining the dots is organised by the Western Australian Network of Alcohol and Other Drug Agencies (WANADA) in partnership with the Drug and Alcohol Office and the Department of Health and Aging Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. It is an opportunity for Aboriginal AOD workers from across the state of WA and others to get together to discuss relevant issues within the Aboriginal AOD sector and share experiences. There will be a market place located at the entrance of the Conference room and HealthInfoNet will be there.

Desert Knowledge Australia and the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre have been joined by a new partner, the Desert Peoples Centre, in hosting the 2008 Symposium and Business Showcase.
Currently under construction at the Desert Knowledge Precinct in Alice Springs, the Desert Peoples Centre is a tertiary and vocational training education facility for Aboriginal students from across desert Australia. Their partnership involvement in hosting the 2008 Desert Knowledge Symposium and Business Showcase is sure to add great value to the program.
2008 Desert Knowledge Symposium and Business Showcase will focus on six key themes:

This conference is for people who are interested in promoting education, therapy, research, and study of the effects of mental, emotional and social development during infancy including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, teachers and early childhood professionals. The theme of this year’s conference is "Angels in the Nursery" from Alicia Lieberman’s paper of the same name and its theme is focusing on building relationships and strengths in families and others who care for infants.

Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs Conference 2008
23 - 26 November 2008, Sydney, New South Wales
The Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs (APSAD) 2008 will feature an exciting program of international and national keynote speakers who will focus on new treatment prevention and policy approaches to the drug and alcohol field. A broad range of papers will be presented from renowned national and international experts in the latest cutting-edge drug and alcohol research.

Annual Scientific Meeting of the Nutrition Society of Australia

The Nutrition Society of Australia is organising this conference, which aims to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its applications to people and animals. The Nutrition Society has a major role in disseminating high quality nutritional science amongst its members and to the community.
