Our Overview of Australian Indigenous health status 2007 has recently been updated. Information is provided about the Indigenous population, the context of Indigenous health, various measures of population health status, selected health conditions, and health risk, factors.

Indigenous respiratory disease - new web resource available now

We have recently developed an Indigenous respiratory disease web resource - a ‘one-stop info-shop’ for people working, studying or interested in respiratory illness among Indigenous peoples. » view web resource

This web resource aims at increasing access to accurate, up-to-date information and resources among people involved in addressing the development and impact of respiratory disease in Indigenous peoples.

The HealthInfoNet is currently exploring options for developing a yarning place (an electronic network) that encourages electronic yarning and networking among people working across Australia to address the development and impact of respiratory disease among Indigenous peoples. » more information

Indigenous diabetes - new web resource available now

We have recently developed an Indigenous diabetes web resource - a ‘one-stop info-shop’ for people working, studying or interested in addressing diabetes among Indigenous peoples. » view web resource

This web resource aims at increasing access to accurate, up-to-date information and resources among people involved in addressing the development and impact of diabetes in Indigenous peoples.

Indigenous misuse of kava, pharmaceuticals and other drugs - new web resource and yarning place available now

We have recently developed a new web resource to provide a ‘one-stop info-shop’ for people working, studying or interested in addressing the misuse of kava, pharmaceuticals and other drugs among Indigenous peoples. » view web resource

The web resource provides quality information and materials about how to prevent and/or minimise the harm associated with the misuse of kava and other drugs among Indigenous peoples. We are still in the process of developing content for this resource, but have decided to make available the information we have already gathered.

The web resource also supports a yarning place by providing electronic services that encourage information sharing and collaboration among the full range of people working to address the misuse of these drugs among Indigenous peoples. The yarning place is available online and membership is free. Anyone working, studying, or interested in addressing issues surrounding the misuse of kava, pharmaceuticals and other drugs among Indigenous Australians is encouraged to join and membership is free. » more information

For more complete info about Indigenous tobacco control, check out the new CEITC (Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Tobacco Control) website, which now also supports the Indigenous Tobacco Control Online Network. The purpose of the Australian Indigenous HealthBulletin is to provide access to information of relevance to Australian Indigenous health. Reflecting the wide range of our users - policy makers, service providers, researchers, students and the general community - the HealthBulletin attempts to keep people informed of current events of relevance, as well as information about recent research.
