National consortium
Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Tobacco Control
(CEITC)
CEITC, which is funded by the Commonwealth Department
of Health and Ageing, aims to aid the growth in knowledge
about Indigenous tobacco control by bringing together
knowledge from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
organisations and tobacco control organisations from
around the country. The Centre promotes the Indigenous
Tobacco Control Online Network, where members can exchange
information and receive regular updates on Indigenous
tobacco control. CEITC's largest projects focus on health
worker training and resource development.

South Australia
Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council (SA) Inc.
The Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council (ADAC) aims
to ensure the development of effective programs to reduce
harm related to substance misuse in Aboriginal communities,
through providing information and advice for the Aboriginal
community, the wider community and for relevant professionals
and institutions.

Queensland
Kurbingui Youth Development Association (KYDA)
The name 'Kurbingui' from the Turrabul language
means 'The transition from boy to man'. The KYDA
mission is to address the disadvantage and poverty experienced
by Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth through the provision
of programs and services designed to alleviate isolation,
poverty, discrimination and unemployment. They offer
a range of training, employment and family programs.
KYDA employs an alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs project
worker to address alcohol, tobacco & illicit drugs
issues through its Yeaca Dhargo Family Project.

Australian Department of Health and Ageing
The Australian Department of Health and Ageing

Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD)
The ANCD was established as part of the Federal government's
response to reduce the harm caused by drugs in the community.
An important component of the ANCD's work is to ensure
that policies, strategies and directions in the drug
and alcohol field are consistent with the National Drug
Strategic Framework. The ANCD website provides information
on drug use in Australia, news and events, and reports
and publications.

Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy
The Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) brings
together Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers
responsible for health and law enforcement to collectively
determine national policies and programs to reduce the
harm caused by drugs. The MCDS is the peak policy and
decision-making body in relation to licit and illicit
drugs in Australia and is one of the key elements of
Australia's National Drug Strategy.

National Drug Strategy
The National Drug Strategy, a cooperative venture
between Australian, State and Territory Governments
and the non-government sector, is aimed at improving
health, social and economic outcomes for Australians
by preventing the uptake of harmful drug use and reducing
the harmful effects of licit and illicit drugs in our
society.

Quitline: the National Tobacco Campaign
The National Tobacco Campaign is a collaborative quit-smoking
health initiative between federal, state, and territory
governments and non-government organisations. Quitline
is a telephone information and advice or counselling
service for people who want to quit smoking.

The Drug and Alcohol Services Council (DASC) acts
as adviser to the Minister for Health and the Department

ASH Australia is a national health group dedicated to

ACOSH is a coalition of 34 medical, educational and
community organisations concerned with reducing the
health consequences of smoking at a statewide, national

Australian Drug Foundation (ADF)
The Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) is an independent,
non-profit organisation that works to prevent and reduce
alcohol and other drug problems in the Australian community.
The ADF site provides information on upcoming events,
copies of corporate publications, an archive of media
releases and specialist library databases. There are
sections of the site designed specifically for students,
teachers, parents, relatives and significant others
wanting to find out more about drugs and drug use. There
is also a comprehensive list of links to websites dealing
with alcohol and other drug issues.

Cancer Council Australia
The Cancer Council Australia is Australia's national
non-government cancer control organisation and includes
eight state and territory cancer organisations, working
together to undertake and fund cancer research, prevent
and control cancer and provide information and support
for people affected by cancer. The Council acts nationally
to advise government and other bodies on appropriate
practice and policies for the prevention, detection
and treatment of cancer.

The DrugInfo Clearinghouse is a service provided by
the Australian Drug Foundation. The goal is to inform
and support drug prevention in Victoria. The Clearinghouse
collects, interprets and disseminates information on
drug prevention.

Koori DrugInfo
The Koori DrugInfo website was developed as part of
the Koori Access Project. This project aims to build
capacity among Koori communities by increasing the relevance
and accessibility of drug information and services.
The website provides a range of drug-related information,
including: online searching of the Indigenous library
collection of the Australian Drug Foundation; research
and reports; workplace training; community building
information; listings for Koori alcohol and other drug
organisations; links to other Indigenous websites; fact

The Heart Foundation is an independent Australia-wide,
non-profit health organisation. Its purpose is to improve
the heart health of Australians and to reduce disability

Since 1998, Te Reo Marama, formerly Apaarangi Tautoko
Auahi Kore (APAK) has been dedicated, on behalf
of the Auahi Kore community and the wider Maori community,
to tobacco resistance. The main role undertaken is to
