JJ
was born in the Sydney Women's Hospital in 1972, and feels
that having a combined background of Torres Strait Islander
from his mother's side, and West Indian from his father's
side, has given him a broader understanding of Indigenous
lifestyles.
As such his art reflects the spiritual and practical knowledge he has received from his Indigenous roots and practical life experience.
Although JJ's artwork on the Physical Activity home page are cartoons, JJ is also an established contemporary artist on the Gold Coast in Queensland where he now resides.

The Culcha Disc includes 447 original artworks by six Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. The artworks and accompanying information may be used:
- by graphic artists;
- as an educational resource for students and teachers;
- for developing projects and programs on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and lifestyle.
Individuals, communities, libraries, educational institutions, and child care centres may use the images freely without further negotiation, providing it is not for commercial purposes.
