The painting:
Around the big yam are different types of bush tucker, or Munbanda. There is Walila, a yam; Warpiritja, a kind of bush onion; Nalpur , a plant that is used for colouring leaves for making baskets; and Pinyi-pinya, another type of yam.
The artist:
Doris Gingingara was born in Maningrida Arnhemland in 1946. She spent her childhood in the traditional way with her parents and her tribe, hunting and gathering.

Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention (WA)
The Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention (MCSP) was
formed as part of a State-wide strategy to address the problem
of youth suicide that had emerged as a concern in the late
1980s. The council monitors and extends suicide prevention
initiatives across the state. The MCSP coordinates suicide
prevention initiatives and develops strategies that will reduce
suicide amongst those age and population sub groups known
to be at high risk of suicide. This includes prevention of
suicide among Aboriginal youth.
