Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation Ltd (AERF Ltd)

AERF Ltd is an independent public company. It has received a $115 million grant from the Australian Government to address prevention, treatment, research and rehabilitation for the misuse of alcohol and drugs (including paint, petrol and glue sniffing). Professional development grants are available for individuals and organisations from the alcohol and other drug sector (of up to $20,000) to enhance professional development.

Scholarships

Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health Comorbidity Professional Development Scholarships

The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA) is coordinating the Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health Comorbidity Professional Development Scholarships program on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Scholarships Program has been developed as part of the Australian Government's National Comorbidity Initiative (NCI), with the aim to address the need for specialist training and resources to assist workers in non-government agencies that provide Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Mental Health (MH) services.

Scholarships are available for existing, not-for-profit, incorporated, non-government owned organisations and/or their staff whose role substantially involves providing services to clients with AOD or MH related issues.
The professional development activity for which funding is sought must be directly relevant to:

  • alcohol and other drugs (where the applicant provides mainly MH related services); or
  • mental health (where the applicant provides mainly AOD related services); or
  • AOD / MH comorbidities.

Applications for the second scholarship round open on 5 February 2008, and will close on 3 March 2008.

Alcohol and other drugs scholarship - Odyssey Institute

The Odyssey Institute is offering a scholarship to the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Work, allowing the winner to undertake work within a range of areas including community-based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services. The scholarship covers all fees for the course and is valued at approximately $2,195. Successful applicants may also apply to undertake the diploma and use the scholarship to reduce the total amount of fees.

Australian Health Promotion Association - Indigenous scholarship

The Australian Health Promotion Association (WA Branch) offers three six-month scholarships to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who would like to coordinate a health promotion project with support from an agency. The Scholarships provide ongoing mentoring and introduces new career opportunities. You are eligible to apply if you are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, living in Western Australia and have worked or studied in health and if you are interested in learning new skills and knowledge in health promotion.
