Australian Cardiac Rehabilitation Association
The Australian Cardiac Rehabilitation Association Inc (ACRA) is a national association of multidisciplinary health professionals involved in cardiac rehabilitation and the prevention of cardiac disease. The site is intended to support health professionals who are currently working in the field of cardiac rehabilitation or wish to find out more about cardiac rehabilitation.

Australian Medical Association (AMA)
The AMA is an independent organisation which represents more than 27,000 doctors, including salaried, private, general practitioners, specialists, teachers, researchers, and doctors in training. The AMA, as the peak health advocacy organisation, exists to advance the professional interests of doctors and the health of the community. The Association has also developed a position statement on preventable chronic disease strategies in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Cardiomyopathy Association of Australia
The Cardiomyopathy Association of Australia boasts over 200 financial members throughout Australia plus a number of complimentary members. This base includes people with cardiomyopathy and their families and friends, GPs, cardiologists, cardiac nurses, psychologists, and group memberships from cardiac units in hospitals and cardiac rehabilitation programs. The association aims to help individuals and families to meet, provide up-to-date information, increase public awareness, and foster medical research in the field.

Heart Support Australia Ltd is a National, volunteer, not-for-profit support organisation providing support, information and encouragement for people with a heart condition and their families. Heart Support Australia also provides, in collaboration with health professionals and affiliated organisations, an organised approach to the enhancement of quality of life for Australians and their families affected by cardiovascular disease. National Heart Foundation of Australia
The Heart Foundation is an independent Australia-wide, non-profit health organisation, funded almost entirely by donations from Australians. It has been fighting heart disease in Australia for nearly 40 years and first began as a voluntary organisation of doctors. In 1961 a very successful 'Heart Fund Campaign' was conducted from which money was raised to establish offices in each state of Australia. Since then the Heart Foundation has established itself as one of the leading health agencies in Australia in the fight against heart disease.

National Stroke Foundation
The National Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works with government, health professionals, patients, carers and consumers on minimising the impact of stroke on the Australian community. The Foundation strives to reduce the impact of stroke by promoting and conducting research into the incidence, causes and treatment of stroke; working with all stakeholders to develop and implement a national policy on the prevention and management of stroke; educating the public about the risk factors and early warning signs of stroke and promoting healthier lifestyles; and encouraging the development of comprehensive and coordinated services for all stroke patients and their families.

American Heart Association
The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Since 1949, the American Heart Association has grown rapidly in size, and involvement with medical and non-medical volunteers. The volunteer-led affiliates and their divisions form a national network of local organizations involved in providing research, education, and community programs. The network continues to gain strength as it expands at the grass-roots level.

British Heart Foundation (BHF)
The BHF funds research into all aspects of heart and circulatory disease. They currently support over 30 BHF professors and around 1,200 individual research projects. The aim of the Foundation is to save and improve lives, through research, publications, campaigns and information line, people are encouraged to take their heart health into their own hands.

The British Cardiac Society was established in 1922, and is a charitable body. Key members include UK cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, doctors, and healthcare professionals. The Society is involved in education, the setting of clinical standards and research into heart and circulatory diseases. European Heart Network (EHN)
Based in Brussels, the EHN is an alliance of member organisations including heart foundations and other non-governmental heart health organisations committed to the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Europe. World Heart Federation
The activities of the World Heart Federation fall under three areas: supporting science, education and training, and advocating. This site are provides complete descriptions and information on heart health around the world under these three main areas. Two specific initiatives of the World Heart Federation, The Forum for Global CVD Prevention, and World Heart Day combine all elements of this work but targeting the scientific community and the general public respectively.
