Koori Kids Mental
Health Program.
The Victorian Koori Kids Mental Health Program was established in 1989 and aims to provide more accessible and culturally relevant mental health services for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural problems and their families. It is an innovative program located in and coordinated from a community controlled organisation (VAHS) and based on strong partnerships between the VAHS and mainstream child and psychiatric services. It is the only program of its kind in Australia and won the 1994 Mental Health Service Achievement Award for 'the most innovative or excellent specialist service'.
