'Eyes down!' comic on gambling

Produced by the Mildura Aboriginal Corporation, Mallee Family Care and the Community Support Fund Victoria, this booklet tells the story of gambling and the problems associated with excessive gambling. The back of the comic has a lifestyle checklist and a contact telephone number for Breakeven Responsible Gambling (1300 133 445) if you want to have a yarn about gambling.

Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi Aboriginal Association: Toilet book

Produced by the Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi Aboriginal Association, the Toilet book highlights what is needed to keep a toilet clean and safe for use. The book describes how pit and flushing toilets work, and the difference between septic tank systems and deep sewerage. The book also provides information on necessary maintenance for different situations and gives ideas on who to contact if help is needed.

Northern Territory Local Government Best Practice Program booklets and videos

The Northern Territory Local Government has produced videos and accompanying booklets covering solid waste management issues, and swimming pools.

The 'Swimming pools' booklet and video features the Areyonga (or Utju) community and the swimming pool project for their community. It tells of the issues surrounding having a swimming pool built and the ongoing maintenance and commitment that is required. The 'Solid waste management' materials features the Yirrkala community and details how the Landcare Department, Gamarrwa Nuwul, of the Yirrkala Dhanbul Community Association Inc. have dealt with solid waste management issues.

VACCHO sexual health and hepatitis C pamphlets

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) has produced a series of sexual health pamphlets specifically developed for Aboriginal people. The series contains the following titles:

  • Hepatitis C
  • Condoms
  • Genital herpes
  • Syphilis (the pox)
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Warts on pippi, mutja and moom (genital and anal warts)

The pamphlets also list details of places to get more information, including a listing of rural STD clinical services in Victoria.
