2006 National Homelessness Conference
1 - 3 March 2006, Sydney, NSW
The Australian Federation of Homelessness Organisations organised the
fourth National Homelessness Conference. The theme of the conference was:
The great Australian dream? Waking up to homelessness. The conference
included a pre-conference Indigenous workshop, a session about Indigenous
homelessness and an Indigenous homelessness open space forum.

NSW Aboriginal Health Research Conference
18 - 19 October 2005, Sydney, New South Wales
This conference was an initiative of the Coalition for Research to Improve
Aboriginal Health (CRIAH). The Coalition is a partnership of the Aboriginal
Health and Medical Research Council (AHMRC) and the Sax Institute, and
has the aim to promote and support research that will translate into improved
health care for Aboriginal communities.
The objectives of the conference were to:
- showcase Aboriginal health research in New South Wales
- provide opportunities for communities to describe their health and
research priorities; and
- provide opportunities for sharing information and establishing collaborations
among Aboriginal community members, researchers and policy makers

- Cass A, Preece C. IMPAKT: how might research be translated to
improved access and health outcomes for Indigenous Australians with
end-stage renal disease?

Western Australia: the highs and lows
- Shipp M. Emerging issues for Indigenous adolescents and young

of achieving health equity for Aboriginal people
- Eades S. SEARCH: Study of Environment, Aboriginal Resilience
and Child Health

Road Safety Research, Policing and Education Conference
14 - 16 November 2005, Wellington, New Zealand
The Road Safety Research, Policing and Education Conference is an annual
forum on road safety policy and practice. The conference is conducted
in different States and Territories of Australia and in New Zealand, with
rotating responsibility for the conference organisation.
The objectives of the 2005 conference were to:
- present the latest findings from road safety research;
- discuss innovations in road safety, policy development, program management
and practice;
- ultimately, reduce road crash trauma by ensuring that decision makers
are adequately informed about the likely effectiveness of various road
crash countermeasures; and
- provide a venue for discussion of advances in road safety research
and practice.
