NACCHO GP NetworkURL: http://www.naccho.org.au/gphome.html What is the NACCHO GP Network?The GP Network was initiated by the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) - the national peak Aboriginal health body representing Aboriginal community controlled health services throughout Australia - in 2002. The GP Network has been set up to assist general practitioners (GPs) working in private practices, hospitals and Aboriginal community controlled medical services in Indigenous communities, to share information and experiences to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care. A link to the GP Network website is provided from the NACCHO website home page (view website). The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing - through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) (view website) - has funded NACCHO from March 2004 - November 2005 to upgrade and restructure the Network. What is the website about?Information provided on the site includes: GP news, NACCHO resources, conferences, and a locum network. Geographic forums will also be set up, the first one being the WAACCHO GP Forum for GPs working in Aboriginal Medical Services of the NACCHO affiliate in Western Australia. Who is the site aimed at?The site has been set up for GPs and GP registrars. Apart from the thematic forums which require a login, the rest of the site is freely accessible. Should I check it out?The GP Network is an innovative initiative designed to provide support for GPs and assist their efforts to improve health care in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.The website is clear and well set up, with easy to find links.
