National Forum: Indigenous
Health and the Treaty Debate: Rights, Governance and Responsibility
This national forum was organised as part of a project investigating the possibility of modern treaty-making between Indigenous people and Australian governments. Partners in the research project include the: Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology, Sydney; Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Faculty of Law; and Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. In keynote addresses and interactive panels, speakers explored the relationship between public law and health and whether a treaty has anything to do with improving Indigenous wellbeing. The Turning Tide: Action & Improvements in Chronic Disease
Towards Building Healthier Communities The 8th annual Chronic Diseases Network conference was jointly hosted by the Chronic Diseases Network and the Good Health Alliance NT. The aims were to inspire and motivate people by highlighting the positive improvements that are occurring in the Northern Territory and around Australasia in chronic disease prevention, early detection and management. Local, national and international speakers presented results of working in innovative and creative ways and creating better ways of working together to support systems that build healthier communities.
