(2002)
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Agenda Working Group
(RAWG) is a joint initiative of the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Health (OATSIH) and the National Health and Medical Research
Council (NHMRC). This report provides details on the NHMRC Road Map, a
strategic framework for the development of a health research agenda which
engages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with researchers,
health service providers and policy makers. Included in the report are
the research themes identified by RAWG and a summary of issues arising
from the associated consultation process. The report (PDF - 350 KB) and a synopsis of the RAWG process are available on the NHMRC website. for measuring the health and social impact of sport in Indigenous communities.
The report includes a literature review and details of community visits,
evaluation methods and the types of indicators that were identified. It
highlights the benefits of physical activity. Carey M (2003) This report documents an evaluation of the RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women's project. The project aimed to identify barriers to the early detection and management of breast and cervical cancer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and identify strategies that GPs and other health workers could employ to overcome them (view abstract and project report). Included in the report is an outline of the project, which was implemented in three pilot sites, and the process evaluation which was the main method utilised for assessment. Conclusions are detailed in a discussion. Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet abstract The report

This report describes the process of developing a video that encourages Indigenous people to overcome their reluctance to talk about sexual abuse. It includes details of the consultation process with Indigenous women and men throughout the project. Also described are the accompanying training workshops for community organisations and government service providers which are designed to demonstrate how to use the video in a culturally appropriate manner.
