Corrugations to highways. Aboriginal road safety video

This video and associated documentation was developed by the National Aboriginal Road Safety Video Project Team to promote road safety and reduce the rate of traffic accidents and associated injuries among Indigenous Australians. The video was shot in remote communities in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory and depicts Aboriginal people demonstrating culturally appropriate road safety messages. The video covers a range of topics related to driving, including: restraints, cyclists, open load space, road conditions, pedestrians, alcohol and other drugs, driver's licenses, road trauma management, trip planning, and community road safety.

How safe is your family? - pamphlet

This pamphlet was produced recently by the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC). It explains what family violence and child abuse is, and outlines the various acts that constitute violent behaviour. The pamphlet focuses specifically on abuse of children, and gives examples to help parents determine whether their children have been abused in some way.

Kidney diseases - preparing for dialysis treatment. A video for remote Aboriginal people

This video, produced by Kidney Health Australia, explains the importance of dialysis in the treatment of kidney failure. It is designed to help Aborginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from remote areas prepare for dialysis treatment. It is accompanied by a flipchart and information kit for general practitioners and health workers.

Pap smear good for umi long life - video

This video was produced in 1995 by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women of Cape York Peninsula and a number of women's health organisations in the region. It is designed to promote awareness among Indigenous women of the importance of regular health checks, especially pap smears.

The adventures of Wanda Woman

A series of A4 comic strip flyers about the adventures of Wanda Woman. Wanda is an Indigenous superhero who protects Indigenous children from pneumococcal disease. The purpose of the comic flyers is to promote free pneumococcal vaccinations to all eligible Indigenous children.

Well women equal strong women - pamphlet

This pamphlet, produced by the Western Australian Department of Health in 2001, is designed specifically for Indigenous women. It explains the importance of pap smear testing; provides a list of professionals who can conduct tests; and is embellished with the Aboriginal colours and the artwork of an Aboriginal artist.
