Talking back: the changing nature of Indigenous health research feedback.

This article outlines the changes that have occurred over time in our understanding of what constitutes appropriate Indigenous health research and feedback. A recent feedback process - employed to relay the findings of two projects on alcohol use in Indigenous communities in far North Queensland - is described. The article highlights the importance of feedback in building community capacity and stimulating community action.

A study of factors affecting suicide in Aboriginal and 'other' populations in the Top End of the Northern Territory through an audit of coronial records.

A recent increase in the number of suicides among the Tiwi people of Bathurst and Melville Islands in the Northern Territory led to a review of coroner's records. This paper outlines the findings of an examination of coronial determinations of suicide in the Top End for the years 1991-1998. The study highlights regional differences in suicide risk among different Aboriginal populations in the Top End.

Body mass index and mortality in Aboriginal Australians in the Northern Territory.
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health;26:305-310.

This study assesses the association between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of all-cause and disease-specific mortalities among Indigenous Australians in a remote Northern Territory community. The study found an inverse association between BMI and various mortality indices among adults within the community.

This article explores the relationships between ill-health and nutrition in an Indigenous population. It focusses on a nutrition project conducted in the Umoona Aboriginal community in Coober Pedy in South Australia's far north, and outlines the findings of Aboriginal health workers involved in the teaching of the community.
