Dentistry in remote Aboriginal communities The manual 'Dentistry in remote Aboriginal communities' is designed to
assist dental personnel intending to work in remote Aboriginal communities.
It offers a cultural and clinical orientation for oral health programs,
as well as containing material on primary health care and service delivery
systems. The manual was published by Nganampa Health Council in 2001. It may be purchased on a cost-recovery basis for $20 plus postage and handling. The information booklet is specifically designed for Aboriginal women and has been developed in consultation with them. (ARDS) have an extensive range of publications and information papers, including a scabies video. The video was released at the end of 2001 and includes information on the prevention and treatment of scabies. The video is available at the cost of $33 and runs for 30 minutes. Information about the care and treatment of incontinence is provided in a cartoon-story style, and employs true Aboriginal humour to address this sensitive and frequently neglected issue. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners' new Indigenous health information service The Department of Health and Ageing has funded the Rural Faculty of the RACGP to coordinate two national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health projects, one focussing on GP registrars and the other on general practitioners. As part of these projects the library of the RACGP has funding to provide access to its resources and services for non-member general practitioners and others working in Indigenous Health.
