Wendy Casey belongs to the Karajarri and Yawuru people who reside in the Kimberley region in the remote northwest of Western Australia, and has extensive experience working in the drug and alcohol field in metropolitan and remote area regions.

Wendy is currently the Acting Director for Aboriginal Health at the Department of Health and has been in this position since April 2013.

Prior to moving to the Department of Health, for the previous 22 years she specialised in the drug and alcohol field.  Wendy has worked within the community controlled and government sectors, in metropolitan and remote area regions and in a variety of roles that include managing clinical services; policy and workforce and resource development;  community development and research.  

Wendy is a current executive member of the National Indigenous Drug & Alcohol Committee. In June, 2013 Wendy’s tremendous commitment to the welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people was celebrated by her induction into the National Drug and Alcohol Honour Roll, which acknowledges and publicly recognises outstanding and tireless efforts made over many years by drug and alcohol workers to address drug and alcohol issues.
