Remote housing review: a review of the National Partnership Agreement on Remote Indigenous Housing and the Remote Housing Strategy (2008-2018).

Canberra: Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

This review was commissioned to assess the outcomes of the National partnership agreement for remote Indigenous housing (NPARIH) and the Remote housing strategy. In looking at the outcomes of these two policies, the review has also examined the state of remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander housing.

The review was conducted by an independent expert panel. To conduct the review, the panel drew from a number of sources, including consultation with key stakeholders, and international best practice and program data.

The review found that there has been some progress in the provision of remote housing, but also a range of ongoing issues that must be addressed to reduce the levels of overcrowding, and to sustain the quality of housing achieved as a result of these strategies.
