This report aims to establish the health service delivery strategy for the Gascoyne Health District within the WA Country Health Service's (WACHS) Midwest region.

The objectives of this document are to:

  • outline the planning context for the development of this service plan and the strategic directions for service planning within the Gascoyne District
  • provide an overview of the catchment population including the demography and epidemiology of the area
  • outline the current scope of health care services in the Gascoyne, including the external services that work in partnership with WACHS
  • define the current and projected demand for healthcare services across the catchment area and establish the key directions for future health care delivery in each service category
  • outline the range of factors that will influence the ability to implement the proposed service delivery strategies and models of care.

Kutjungka Region clinical services plan.

This service plan aims to map the provision of health services in the Aboriginal communities of Balgo, Billiluna and Mulan, known collectively as the Kutjungka region, in the East Kimberley of Western Australia. The plan will allow health service providers and community leaders to develop a strategic direction for delivering health services in these communities.

The objectives of this service plan are to:

  • describe the current profile of primary health service delivery in the Kutjungka region communities of Balgo, Billiluna and Mulan
  • highlight the Kutjungka populations key health service needs and the implications of those needs for service planning
  • note the existing challenges and issues that underpin service and facility planning in the Kutjungka as observed by clinicians and community members
  • document current service activity in order to predict future service activity for the clinics at Balgo, Billiluna and Mulan
  • recommend future service delivery priorities for health services in the region.
