Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health

The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health is the Journal of the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) and is published six times a year The journal disseminates public health research and ideas throughout Australia and internationally. The content of the journal largely consists of finished discussions of research projects however, there is occasionally space for reviews, views and historical pieces.

The PHAA provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and information on public health. The association is also involved in advocacy for public health policy, development, research and training.

Australian Indigenous HealthBulletin

The Australian Indigenous HealthBulletin is the electronic journal of the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet. The purpose of the Australian Indigenous HealthBulletin is to facilitate access to information of relevance to Australian Indigenous health. The HealthBulletin attempts to keep people informed of current events of relevance, as well as information about recent research.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare - Indigenous Diabetes

This sub-site of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare is specifically devoted to diabetes in the Indigenous population. It provides links to online diabetes reports and articles published for Indigenous Australians, as well as general information relating to Indigenous aspects of access to health services, other health risk factors, mothers and babies, mental health, hospitalisation, mortality, and expenditure.

Chronic Diseases Network

The Northern Territory Chronic Diseases Network was established to address the impact of chronic disease in the NT. It includes government and non-government members across the NT and Australia. The Network was formed to link stakeholders and promote communication, collaboration, coordination and collective memory in the area of common chronic diseases affecting the NT population, across the continuum of care. It is also responsible for publishing The Chronicle, a monthly public health publication.

Diabetes update

Diabetes update is a monthly e-newsletter produced by the Country Health SA program Diabetes outreach. This program provides training and support to rural and remote health professionals, supports networks, develops professional and consumer resources and facilitates access to information about population health needs. is designed to help both patients and health care professionals find the information and resources they need for the prevention of vision loss from diabetes. Providing portals for both diabetics and health professionals, the site provides information on the causes of diabetic retinopathy, prevention and treatment, and discussions of preferred practice patterns, latest epidemiological estimates and summaries of key research.

Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT)

The DDT is a part of the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The division does not support the direct provision of services, but facilitates the efficient, fair, and effective availability of these services to all Americans affected by diabetes.

Koorie diabetes: Grapevine

This e-newsletter provides diabetes information for Koorie communities on topics such as current events and news, patients' stories and recipes. It aims to keep health professionals and Koorie diabetes networks up to date on diabetes information. To subscribe refer to the links below.

Medical Journal of Australia (MJA)

The MJA is Australia's leading peer-reviewed journal of medical practice and clinical research. The MJA is published by the Australasian Medical Publishing Company for the Australian Medical Association.

The print edition appears on the first and third Monday of each month, except that the December issues are combined into one large special issue. The full text of every issue since January 2002 is available on the web (only a selection of articles from 1996 to 2001 is available).

National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse (NDIC)

The NDIC is an information dissemination service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The NIDDK is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one of eight health agencies of the Public Health Service, which is under the US Department of Health and Human Services. NDIC was established to increase knowledge and understanding about diabetes among patients, health care professionals, and the general public.

Northern Territory Disease Control Bulletin

The Northern Territory (NT) Disease Control Bulletin is produced by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Darwin, on a quarterly basis.

The CDC provides a range of services to monitor, control, prevent, and in some instances, eliminate communicable and non communicable diseases throughout the NT. The Bulletin forms part of this service, as it provides professional and community education about critical parts of successful program outcomes.

Nutrition & Dietetics

Nutrition & Dietetics is the peer-reviewed journal of the Dietitian's Association of Australia and covers all aspects of food, nutrition and dietetics.

The journal provides a forum for the reporting, discussion and development of scientifically credible knowledge related to human nutrition and dietetics and publishes original research, methodology analyses, commentaries and viewpoints, research reviews and book reviews. The journal aims to keep health professionals abreast of current knowledge on human nutrition and diet, and accepts contributions from around the world.

Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases

Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases is the official journal of the Italian Society of Diabetology, the Italian Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis and the Italian Society of Human Nutrition.

With a focus on diabetes, atherosclerosis and human nutrition, the journal looks at the interplay between nutritional and metabolic alterations, and cardiovascular disorders. Of particular interest are the origins, the mechanisms and the means to prevent and control diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and other nutrition-related diseases.

Pediatric Diabetes

Pediatric Diabetes is a quarterly journal devoted to disseminating knowledge relating to the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, management, complications and prevention of diabetes in childhood and adolescence. Papers are considered on the rigor of scientific approach, novelty, and importance for understanding mechanisms involved in the epidemiology and etiology of this disease, especially its molecular, biochemical and physiological aspects. Work relating to the clinical presentation, course, management and outcome of diabetes including its physical and emotional sequelae is considered. In vitro studies using animal or human tissues, whole animal and clinical studies in humans are also considered.

The Chronicle

The Chronicle is a monthly publication produced by the Northern Territory Chronic Diseases Network. It is published by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), which provides a range of services to monitor, control, prevent and in some instances eliminate communicable and non-communicable diseases throughout the Northern Territory. NT-wide programs, policies and strategies are developed via multisectoral consultation and implemented by district CDCs in collaboration with all levels of health care providers. Both professional and community education are critical parts of successful program outcomes.

The Chronicle has regular topics which include screening, mens health and resources. Each edition features a theme. Contributions to the Chronicle are welcome (eg. research, project updates, photographs and new resources).
