Aboriginal health programs among the winners of MedicineWise Awards in 2012

Two programs developed for Aboriginal people were among the winners of the National MedicineWise Awards 2012.

The National MedicineWise Awards are an opportunity to recognise excellence in work being undertaken across Australia to promote quality use of medicines by consumers and health professionals. The winners received their awards from the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, at the National Prescribing Service Ltd (NPS) National Medicines Symposium dinner.

The Aboriginal program winners were:

• Northern Rivers CareerLink pharmacy project, for the Building a MedicineWise community: consumer programs category
  • supporting Aboriginal students to pursue a career in pharmacy
• Medicines book for Aboriginal Health Workers, for the Education for health professionals to build quality use of medicines skills category
  • a manual for workers with low literacy levels.
