Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet named a finalist for the National Drug and Alcohol Awards 2012

The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet was recently nominated in the National Drug and Alcohol Awards 2012 for its work on the substance use section of its website. This section includes information on:

• alcohol use
• illicit drug use (including kava)
• volatile substance use.

The HealthInfoNet was short-listed as a finalist in the category of Excellence in Research, and is in the running to win the category when the awards are drawn on 22 June 2012 in Melbourne, Victoria.

The HealthInfoNet's translational research (TR) informs practice and policy in the area of alcohol and other drug (AOD) use among Indigenous people. The HealthInfoNet's reviews of the use of alcohol, volatile substances and illicit drugs are made accessible, along with its research, through the website and in printed material. This ensures that people working in the field of Indigenous AOD will be able to readily access the material required for their work.
