National sorry day and reconciliation week 2012

The 15th National sorry day will be taking place tomorrow on Saturday 26 May 2012.

National sorry day is a day of commemoration and remembrance for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children - the Stolen Generations - forcibly removed from their families, communities and culture between the 1800s and the 1970s.

The National Sorry Day Committee Inc. (NSDC) will be holding numerous National sorry day events around Australia. Events taking place in Western Australia (WA) include:

National reconciliation week will also be underway from Sunday 27 May, until 3 June 2012. The theme this year is 'Let's talk recognition', with a particular focus on constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
