Boodjari Yorga women's expo a success

Date posted: 10 April 2012

Noongar women from around the Shire of Moora, Western Australia gathered together at the Population Health premises on 3 April 2012 for the first Boodjari Yorga expo. The special focus of the gathering was women (yorga) who are pregnant (boodjari) or who have just had their baby.

Expo organiser and health promotion officer Jodi Davis said it was the first of three such expos being held in the district. The expos have been designed as a community-based, hands-on approach to introducing services and reinforcing healthy practices for Noongar women and their babies.

The second expo for the district has been arranged for May 9, 2012, at the Wongan Hills Primary Health Centre. The third will be held again in Moora on June 19, 2012.
