The Western Australian Country Health Service (WACHS) Goldfields branch is marking National Close the Gap Day by hosting a peaceful march in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
This event will be one of hundreds which take place across the country to mark National Close the Gap Day, a nation-wide event that enables Australians to join together and remind their political leaders of their commitments to close the life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians within a generation.
'This event will help spread community awareness in Kalgoorlie and Boulder about the need for increased and improved Aboriginal health services,' said Yasir Arfat, Regional Health Promotion Coordinator. Community leaders will speak at the event, which will also feature cultural performances and community agency displays, along with a free sausage sizzle and giveaways.
The march will take place from 10am on 22nd March 2012 on Maritana Street (corner of Dugan St) and proceed to the Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre.
