Funding for Indigenous lung, hepatitis B and kidney research
The Minister for Health, Tanya Pilbersek, today announced funding of $644,950 for nine scholarships in Indigenous health research at the Northern Territory's Menzies School of Health Research.
These include:
- two scholarships to target the cause of bronchiectasis (a condition which destroys muscle and tissue in the lungs' bronchial tree)
- one scholarship to map the prevalence and burden of disease from hepatitis B in the Top End of the NT
- two scholarships to look at the health impacts of food affordability, chronic kidney disease and health risks for babies born to mothers who have diabetes during pregnancy.
