Closing the gap in health outcomes between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people is a key priority for New South Wales (NSW).
To reflect this, the 2012 NSW Aboriginal Health Awards will be held on the evening of Close the Gap Day, 22 March 2012.
The Awards were established in 2004 and are an important way to celebrate and promote the success and achievements of individuals, teams and communities dedicated to delivering high quality care and improving health outcomes of Aboriginal people in urban, rural, regional and remote Aboriginal communities throughout NSW. Award categories include child and maternal health, adolescent health and wellbeing, strengthening families and communities, excellence in chronic care, workforce innovation, research excellence, community engagement and healthy lifestyles. An award will also be given to an exemplary Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW).
For any enquiries regarding the Awards, Local Health District health services should contact their Awards Liaison Officer. For contact details for the Awards Liaison Officers, see link below.
Any health services, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and non-government organisations, who do not have an Awards Liaison Officer, should contact NSW Health's Health Support Services Events Services:
