New Victorian alcohol and other drug strategy - call for public submissions

Date posted: 15 August 2011

The Coalition Government has announced a new whole of government strategy to address alcohol and other drug (AOD) use in Victoria. The strategy will focus on decreasing the current rates of AOD use in Victoria, reducing the amount of harm that alcohol and drug use causes in the community, and increasing access to treatment options. A 17 member expert taskforce chaired by Professor Richard Larkins will constitute the Expert Advisory Group, who will inform the development of the whole of government strategy.

The Government has launched a new website for consultation on the Victorian alcohol and drug strategy, and opened public submissions from individuals and organisations. The website provides access to a range of alcohol and other drug reports. More information about the strategy, including details on how to make a submission, is available from the Victorian Department of Health website.
