The Governor General Quentin Bryce has launched the new Kimberley diabetic eye care program that provides eye screening and treatment to diabetes sufferers in remote communities. Program leader Associate Professor Angus Turner says, 'We are very fortunate that she's a great advocate for eye care and she's also a great supporter of Indigenous health.' The visit also provides a rare opportunity to tell the Governor General about the achievements of the region's health workers.
