New review of evidence shows why plain tobacco packs can reduce cancer, cardiovascular deaths

Date posted: 26 May 2011

Plain packaging of tobacco products should reduce Australia's cancer and cardiovascular disease burden by decreasing smoking rates, according to a new, comprehensive review of the evidence released today by Cancer Council Australia. The review, prepared by Quit Victoria and Cancer Council Victoria and supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia, makes a compelling, evidence-based case for introducing plain packaging.
