The Federal Government has launched a Senate committee inquiry into the effectiveness of supplying Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines to remote Aboriginal health services.
The industry does not meet the needs of Indigenous patients. There is a need for more pharmacists in remote communities to make sure medicines are dispensed and used properly. The pharmaceutical industry should be looking at ways to provide the same services delivered to other Australians.
The committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations. The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2011.
