Get inspired to achieve a healthier weight and lifestyle this Healthy weight week

Date posted: 5 February 2015

Australia’s healthy weight week (AHWW), running from 16-22 February 2015, is an opportunity for people across Australia to get involved in actively managing their weight.

Organised by the Dietitian’s Association of Australia (DAA), the event promotes the importance of cooking at home more often, and highlights the importance of getting the right advice and support when trying to lose weight.

There are a number of events organised across Australia to celebrate the week, including fun runs, healthy breakfasts and morning teas, cooking demonstrations and games and displays. You can see local events here. Participants can also take up the AHWW cooking challenge, which encourages people to cook seven meals in seven days.

The DAA is additionally hosting a live Twitter chat on Wednesday 18 February at 8pm AEDST. The chat will discuss eating healthier, and will feature nutrition experts. You can follow the campaign at @HealthyWtWk and use the hashtag #AHWW.

There are a number of free nutrition factsheets available from the Healthy weight week site, which feature tips on budget eating, smart food swaps, healthy meal plans, home cooking, and breakfast.
