The Minister for Indigenous Health, Mr Warren Snowdon, has announced that 85 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations in Australia will receive funds to achieve accreditation. Funding will be used for purchasing and updating necessary equipment, training for staff, capital works and other infrastructure such as online communications. It is anticipated that accreditation of these organisations will see them better equipped to improve the quality of health services provided to Indigenous Australians. A list of funding recipients, together with details of the amount of funding and funded items, has also been released.
