Subsidised nicotine patches will help break cycle of poverty, smoking and disease

Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) has been listed on the Pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS). Smoking rates among people on low incomes are much higher than those on higher incomes and therefore those on low incomes bear a greater share of cancers caused by smoking. This move will make it more affordable for smokers seeking assistance to quit, especially those on low incomes.
