Mr Justin Mohamed, Chair of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) has proposed that the best way to 'close the gap' is to establish a network of regional Aboriginal Medicare Locals to support local Aboriginal Medical Services. Following the NACCHO annual general meeting during the 17th till 19th November 2010, Mr Mohammed speaking on behalf on the over 200 delegates who attended said that 'the development of the Aboriginal Medicare Locals should be led by the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector based on our expertise in providing comprehensive primary health care for almost 40 years in our communities'.
