Apunipima celebrates Aurukun Day

Date posted: 4 August 2014

Apunipima Cape York Health Council are in Aurukun this week celebrating Aurukun Day. There will be a range of activities including the launch of a community Hip Hop music video, Pepi-pod demonstration and multi-award winning photo-journalist Brian Cassey’s Aak Puul Ngantam (APN) Stockman exhibition.

The event kicked off last night with the launch of a community hip hop video which was produced by Indigenous hip hop projects (IHHP) in collaboration with Apunipima and Police Citizens Youth Club. Filmed by IHHP, the video features the young people of Aurukun singing an original track which was developed during workshops held in the community in April.

Health Promotion Officer Andrew Packer who has been closely involved with the project said the community was looking forward to seeing the finished product.
