World Environment Day 2014

Date posted: 28 May 2014

World Environment Day (WED), held on the 5 June 2014, is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. A special focus of WED this year is the effect of climate change on Small Island Developing States. The UN is calling for people to recognize that the world's citizens face the same challenges, and are connected and united by the common goal of a sustainable and prosperous life for all on this planet.

There are a number of events being held internationally and locally for WED, such as clean-up campaigns, food waste reduction initiatives, walk-to-work days, plastic bans, art exhibits, tree-planting drives, concerts, dance recitals, recycling drives, social media campaigns and different contests.

To get involved with an event near you, or to register your own, please refer to the links below.
