The Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles has been officially opened for 2014 with a traditional ceremony on the culturally significant grounds of Bells Beach in Victoria (Vic).
The annual event which crowns the top Australian Indigenous surfer will feature some of the best surfers in the country. Russel Molony the 2012 event champion from New South Wales (NSW) will be competing along with talented free surfer Otis Carey from Sydney. Former World Qualifying Series surfer Simon Knox from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and current Vic Indigenous Champion Jordie Campbell will also be competing.
Minister for Sport Damian Drum and Vic State Member for South Barwon Andrew Katos attended the ceremony to welcome the interstate competitors to Bells Beach.
