The Department of Health have released their new recommendations for physical activity: Australia's physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines for adults (18-64 years).
The new guidelines recommend that Australian adults participate in 60 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most or all days of the week, doubling the previous recommendation of 30 minutes per day.
The guidelines further recommend that 75 to 150 minutes of the recommended exercise be of vigorous intensity and that muscle strengthening exercises be done on two days of the week.
