Cricket Australia has employed two dedicated Indigenous Cricket Officers to increase Indigenous participation in cricket.
Unlike football, which has many Indigenous role models and is seen as accessible and socially acceptable in Indigenous communities, cricket is often stigmatised as a colonialist game.
It is hoped that increased participation in cricket will result in transformed educational opportunities for young Indigenous boys, and increased long term employment opportunities.
