Diabetic blindness a growing risk in developing countries

Diabetic retinopathy is likely to be a key subject of discussion at the upcoming World Diabetes Congress to be held in Melbourne from 2 December to 6 December 2013.

Brian Doolan, CEO of the Fred Hollows Foundation, says that medical experts predict that diabetes could become the leading cause of blindness in the world by 2035, with up to 177 million people world wide being at risk.
