Indigenous Women's Grants (IWG) projects announced

There are 58 new projects that will receive funding of $3 million from the Indigenous Women's Grants program (IWG).

IWG is a grants program which provides funding for activities that respond to the particular needs and circumstances of local Indigenous women. The Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Jenny Macklin, said the grants program funds practical, local programs that encourage Indigenous women's leadership, representation, safety, wellbeing and economic status.

'Women have an important leadership role in Indigenous communities and our investments recognise that by working together we can provide development opportunities that will help close the gap on Indigenous disadvantage and build a better future for Indigenous Australians', Ms Macklin said.
